8 Ways to Feel More Comfortable at Your Brand Photoshoot if You’re an Introvert.

In school I dreaded speaking in front of the class so much, I would call out sick or try to bribe classmates to speak for me.  I REALLY hated being the center of attention.

It took many years of being in situations that forced me to interact with patients, doctors and their families, before I slowly became more comfortable being “center-stage”.

So, I get it if you dread the thought of posing in front of a camera!  If you’re introverted or camera shy, the thought of being in front of the camera can feel overwhelming.

The thing is, high quality photos of you and your business will be the way to set yourself apart from all of the other businesses that don’t take the time to invest in their business!

The good news is that you don’t have to try to force uncomfortable poses or fake confidence to get great photos.  You can have a photoshoot that even feels enjoyable:)

  1. Choose a Photographer Who Understands You

Not all photographers work the same way, and finding one who understands your hesitation about having pictures taken can make a difference.  Look for someone who’ll make you feel at ease.

2. Pick a Familiar and Comfortable Location

Opt for a location where you feel at home.  This could actually be a spot in your home, your workspace, a quiet cafe, or even a spot outside.  Being in a familiar space will help you to feel less anxious and you’ll look more relaxed in your photos.

3. Have an Idea of Your Poses Ahead of Time

Work with your photographer on planning some poses that feel natural to you.  Poses that have you doing something…Have your photographer guide you.

4.  Ask if You Can Bring a Friend

See if you can bring a friend or team member for moral support and to help keep you relaxed.  They can help keep the mood light and offer encouragement.

5.  Wear Clothes That Make You Feel Comfortable

Choose clothes that reflect YOUR personality and make you feel good.  Go with what feels most like you.

6.  Focus on Your Work, Not the Camera

Engage in activities that feel natural for you to be doing…typing on your laptop, journaling, speaking into a microphone, holding a product, talking to an imaginary client, holding your favorite coffee mug while on the phone.

7. Play Music

Create a playlist of favorite songs that relax or uplift you, and play it during the shoot.  It can help to create a more enjoyable atmosphere.

8.  Take Breaks and Breathe

Sometimes, you just need to shake it out!  Shake your hands, move your arms, jump around and take deep breaths…it’s natural to stiffen up when you’re nervous.

Your photographer will remind you to “shake it out” if you’re looking nervous too!
